FCC votes to develop open Internet regulation
In a unanimous vote, the FCC decided last Thursday to continue working on open Internet regulation. The proposal they have put forward will codify the principles in a 2005 statement, forbidding Internet providers to restrict access to lawful Internet content, applications, and services. In addition, it will prevent network providers from discriminating against particular content and require transparent management practices.

The commission has set a deadline of January 14th for preliminary public comment and March 5th for reply comment.

Comcast Forgoes Bill of Rights in Favor of Working Group
From the Net Neutrality Department:  Comcast, in an effort to mend fences after the BitTorrent P2P net neutrality fiasco last year, announced last month that it would create a Bill of Rights for file sharing networks and internet service providers in conjunction with P2P company Pando.

This month however, according to NewTeeVee, Comcast has just announced it is abandoning this plan in favor of joining a new working group being formed by the DCIA.  The DCIA plans to invite P2P companies and ISP providers to join in and help determine the best practices of these companies to work together.  The meeting is planned for May 20th in New York.
